Father GianMaria Polidoro
was born in Ortona (CH) on 09/02/33. E 'Franciscan residing in Assisi (Piazza Chiesa Nuova, 7), a priest since 1957. Doctor of Philosophy, Licentiate in Sacred Theology.
From 1972 to 1982, Director of Retired University of Perugia in Monteripido and for some years professor of Italian at the University Italiana per Stranieri di Perugia. Dal 1980 al 2005 è stato Confondatore e poi Direttore della Casa Editrice Porziuncola e Direttore della Rivista Assisi-Porziuncola.
Come direttore della Casa Editrice Porziuncola, tra l’altro, ha tenacemente ispirato e perseguito l’edizione dei “Fontes Franciscani” per opera dei migliori studiosi. Dal 1982,si occupa particolarmente del tema della Pace e della ecologia che chiama Pace con il creato. E' del 1983 il suo primo libro sull'argomento intitolato "La Pace".
Nel 1984, confondatore del Centro Internazionale per la Pace fra i Popoli, fu uno dei due francescani che si recarono dal Presidente USA Ronald Reagan ed al Kremlino per indicare una via di dialogo come possibilità di superare la guerra fredda.
Quindi, con gli altri membri del Direttivo, ha seguito i summits Reagan-Gorbacioff mantenendo buon contatto con le due Delegazioni. Inviato da gruppi di buona volontà degli USA ha incontrato Muhammar Gheddafi ed altri membri del governo libico durante i momenti cruciali della questione Looked.
Allo stesso modo ha sollecitato l'inizio del dialogo di Pace in Mozambico incontrando il Presidente Samora Machel e i rappresentanti della guerriglia presenti a Lisbona, prima della nota attività della Comunità di S. Egidio in Roma.
